Aang from Avatar: The Last Airbender inaugurated the new attraction

Nickelodeon Universe at Mall of America has opened a new ride called Fly with Appa, inspired by the Nickelodeon franchise Avatar: The Last Airbender.

Fly with Appa is an aerial carousel ride that allows visitors to board their own sky bisons, described by Mall of America as “loyal and loving creatures” that use “airbending to navigate air currents with their tails, allowing them to fly”.

“Surrounded by serene trees and plant life, riders will embark on a majestic journey feeling the rush of the skies while enjoying stunning aerial views as they travel up, down, and all around,” Mall of America said in a press release.

To celebrate the new ride‘s opening on 23 March, Aang from Avatar: The Last Airbender made an appearance at the theme park for a ribbon cutting and interactions with fans. Additionally, fans could get airbrush tattoos of one of the four elements: water, earth, fire and air.

Opened in 2008, Nickelodeon Universe is a seven-acre indoor theme park with nearly 30 rides and attractions based on Nickelodeon franchises such as SpongeBob SquarePants, Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, and Paw Patrol.

Mall of America in Bloomington, Minnesota is North America’s largest shopping and entertainment complex at 5.6 million square feet.

As well as Nickelodeon Universe, the mall is home to attractions including a Sea Life aquarium, the FlyOver America ride, and the Crayola Experience.

Last year, Mall of America debuted the Malibu Barbie Cafe, an interactive pop-up dining experience inspired by the iconic doll.
