Boulevard Precinct FEC plan for Margate Amusement Park, South Africa

News
margate beach south africa to have Boulevard Precinct FEC development

The Conteco Group have been appointed to develop the former Margate Amusement Park in the Ray Nkonyeni Municipality, South Africa into a Boulevard Precinct family entertainment zone.

In February 2017 the Ray Nkonyeni Municipality sought proposals for the “Lease and Development of the former Margate Amusement Park”. The response, say the municipality, was overwhelming.

The criteria set in the advert included knowledge and experience in family entertainment and food and beverages.

The Conteco Group was appointed as the service provider – however they are not yet on site. The company made a presentation before the Council meeting and received the approval from Council.

This development will cost about R45 million (US$3.3 million). It will be called Boulevard Precinct – a new brand for the coast. Develop will consist of two phases. Phase One will consist of Cafe, dining, visual games and a bar – as well as The Beach Club. Phase 1 is scheduled to be complete by early December this year. Phase 2 will be initiated early next year, and will consist of more games and a Skate Park.

An estimated 200 jobs will be created by the project.

A statement released by the Council said: “We believe that the Boulevard Precinct, like all other structures in our municipality, will meet the highest standards of quality.”

It is hoped that by 2036, the Ray Nkonyeni municipality will be a tourist-friendly, economically diversified, smart area.
