The Operations Division of Ride Entertainment, leading provider of thrill rides and attractions to the entertainments industry, has been awarded the contract to run the Pier 62 Carousel in Manhatten’s Hudson River Park.
The carousel, embellished with 33 hand-carved wooden animals and a ‘living’ green roof, is the centerpiece of the park’s new open space created by highly-regarded garden designer, Lynden Miller.
“We are excited and proud to be the new operators of the Pier 62 Carousel, ” commented David Galst, Ride Entertainment’s Managing Director of Operations. “With the majority of the carousel figures being inspired by creatures indigenous to the Hudson River area, it is truly one of the most unique carousels in the world.”
The carousel, built 5 years ago, is one of a several family attractions at the pier. Ride Entertainment reports that, as well as running unique birthday parties at the location, the company is also providing regular free children’s shows.
“We look forward to not just continuing the operation of the ride, but to making the Pier 62 Carousel a go-to venue for New Yorkers for birthday parties, live entertainment, and family fun, ” said Galst.
Ride Entertainment CFO, Ami Abramson, added, “Partnering with the Hudson River Park Trust is a thrill. The Trust has proven to be one of the great innovating managers of parks in NY State. We plan to continue in their tradition of excellence in entertainment and activities.”
