Star Wars - Galaxy's Edge construction footage Walt Disney World and Disneyland

Star Wars – Galaxy’s Edge is under construction at Disneyland in California and Walt Disney World Resort in Florida and drone footage of how it is developing has just been released.

Disney CEO Bob Iger shared the video during the company’s 2018 Annual Meeting of Shareholders. It shows the massive scale of the Star Wars lands that will open sometime in 2019.

The site was described as “one of the most detailed and immersive lands ever created in Disney Parks history” by Disney representatives.

In the themed lands guests will be transported to the planet of Batuu, a remote outpost on the galaxy’s edge. Here, guests will find themselves in the middle of the action at two immesrisve attractions.

One attraction will put guests in the middle of a battle between the First Order and the Resistance while inside a Star Destroyer. In the second attraction, guests will have the chance to fly the Millennium Falcon on a secret mission.

The lands feature a full-sized fleet of X-wing fighters as well as a life-size Millennium Falcon. Guests will also have the chance to interact with Chewie, BB8 and members of the First Order.

Disney also plans to open an immersive Star Wars hotel at Walt Disney World Resort. The experience will begin as soon as guests arrive at the hotel, where they will board a starship that is departing for a multi-day adventure.

Authentic Star Wars clothes will be provided for guests to wear while they mix with characters and watch stories unfurl around them.

A Star Wars land is also coming to Disneyland Paris as part of a $2.44bn expansion of the park.
