Ireland’s Tayto Park has announced that its new dinosaur-themed roller coaster for kids, called Dino Dash, is set to open on 9 April. The ride is part of a €30m investment over the next two years.

The €3m Dino Dash is a thrilling coaster experience for young visitors, who travel in safari jeep-themed ride vehicles above a bubbling swamp and under the tail and head of an Apatosaurus.

Visitors will encounter dinosaurs such as the Velociraptor, Triceratops and Tyrannosaurus rex, and will reach heights of 11.7 metres and speeds of up to 50 km/h. The state-of-the-art ride is designed by Vekoma, the Dutch roller coaster specialist.

“At Tayto Park we’re always looking for innovative and creative ways to enhance the experience for families at our theme park and zoo and what better way to do that than creating a dinosaur-themed rollercoaster with a world’s first innovative track design,” said Raymond Coyle, founder of Tayto Park.

“I have no doubt this will be a popular choice amongst our younger visitors, with many new attractions in the pipeline as part of our €30 million investment over the next two years.”

Tayto Park recently revealed plans to spend more than €30m on three new roller coasters, including Dino Dash. The theme park in County Meath has also revealed that Tayto’s title sponsorship will end this year.

The park will have a new name and identity from January 2023. Coyle said the partnership has “helped to create one of Ireland’s most popular tourist attractions in little over 12 years”.

“We have decided that in order to expand and meet our ambitious targets for the park, now is the opportune time to rename the park to better reflect the exciting rides, attractions and zoo that are coming over the next few years,” he added.
