Toverland, an amusement park in the Netherlands, has announced an eerie escape experience where guests can explore the park in darkness after it closes.

Billed as Europe’s biggest escape experience, the event takes place for two nights on 12 and 13 April. Per a press release, participants will become security guards and will be responsible for protecting the 20-hectare theme park.

Guests will get the chance to explore the deserted theme park after closing time. However, “inexplicable things” start happening. During the experience, guests will crack codes and solve puzzles.

“Many people dream of having a theme park all to themselves,” says Bart Jaspers, Toverland’s marketing and communications manager.

“With the Toverland escape experience we are responding to this wish, and prize winners can experience for themselves what it is like to protect a magical place like Toverland.

“To keep the experience truly exclusive, we are only offering the escape experience for two nights.”

For the new attraction, Toverland is looking for “security teams who are confident and are not scared of a theme park shrouded in darkness”.

Anyone who wants to take part can sign up here by 31 March. Teams must consist of four to six people. The experience is recommended for guests aged over 12 and is only offered in Dutch.

Players must be confident and not scared

Toverland in Sevenum is home to six themed areas with 40 attractions and shows, including Troy, the fastest, longest and tallest wooden coaster in the Benelux.

Last summer, Toverland launched four new attractions as part of the €11.5 million expansion of its Avalon area.

This year, Toverland will expand its seasonal events. It will also start building the Clubhuis, a new space for the Toverland team. In the future, Toverland plans to add overnight accommodation for theme park guests.

Toverland’s new escape experience was developed in collaboration with Epic Escape Waalwijk.
