Toverland, an amusement park in the Netherlands, has launched four new attractions as part of its €11.5 million Avalon expansion.

The park’s fantasy-themed Avalon area now boasts four additional family-friendly rides and attractions, as well as two new play areas and new interactive experiences.

The new additions were opened on 1 July by Toverland owner Jean Gelissen Sr. and Toverland’s general manager Jean Gelissen Jr.

New characters and children’s areas

“By creating this expansion, we added more thematisation, dynamic and attraction value to this area. Avalon has grown up,” said Gelissen Jr.

“We have worked with passion and craftsmanship on this expansion and I’m so incredibly proud of the end result.”

Based on the legend of King Arthur, Avalon first opened in 2018 with Fénix, a €17m Bolliger & Mabillard coaster offering three inversions. It also included the Merlin’s Quest boat ride, the Flaming Feather restaurant, and the Arthur’s Tournament Training play area.

Now on offer in the land are a family-friendly drop tower called Dragonwatch, a pendulum ride called Pixarus in the middle of the helix of the Fénix coaster, and the Jumping Juna and Garden Tour attractions.

Highlights also include new characters, from Sparky the dragon to Juna the unicorn. The park’s youngest visitors can enjoy the Sparky’s Splash Dock water play area, and the Little Dragons toddler playground.

Toverland in Sevenum is home to six themed areas with 40 attractions and shows. One of its top rides is Troy, the fastest, longest and tallest wooden roller coaster in the Netherlands, Belgium, and Luxembourg.

“The Troy roller coaster is, nowadays, still one of the best,” Gelissen Jr told blooloop. “If you’re a roller coaster enthusiast, one day you’ll have to ride Troy.”

In 2022, Toverland broke its own attendance record when it hosted its millionth visitor, nine-year-old Pien Polman from Voorburg.
