Toverland in the Netherlands has broken its own record after welcoming its millionth visitor this year on 17 December during the new ‘Winter Feelings’ event.

The amusement park’s millionth visitor was nine-year-old Pien Polman from Voorburg. To mark the attendance record, Toverland has given the Polman family free tickets for a year.

“We are so incredibly pleased and proud that we’ve welcomed more than one million visitors this year,” said Jean Gelissen Jr, Toverland’s general manager.

“A dream we held as a family business ever since we opened on 19 May 2001.”

“Thanks to a huge expansion that we carried out in 2018, this special moment came closer and closer and now, after a few difficult [pandemic] years, we can celebrate a wonderful victory that we achieved with our entire ‘Toverteam’,” he added.

Pre-pandemic in 2019, Toverland welcomed 862,000 guests. This year, Toverland has opened the entire park through the winter months for the first time for ‘Winter Feelings’.

Located in Sevenum, Toverland is home to six themed areas with 35 attractions and shows. Troy is the fastest, longest and tallest wooden coaster in the Netherlands, Belgium, and Luxembourg.

The theme park is currently expanding its Avalon area to include four new family-friendly attractions – a drop tower, carousel, pendulum ride and ‘Garden Tour’ attraction.

Inspired by the legend of King Arthur, Avalon opened in 2018 with Fénix, a €17 million Bolliger & Mabillard coaster.

Toverland has also updated its 17-year-old Expedition Zork attraction, which now features a new storyline and theming.
