Original plan for 700 acres of development has grown

Universal Orlando has expanded its Epic Universe development district. Epic Universe is due to open next year with a theme park, as well as three hotels, shops and F&B.

Via a report in the Orlando Business Journal, the original plan for 700 acres of development has now expanded to more than 2,000 acres.

The updated plan was revealed in documents filed on 29 May with Orange County by Universal City Development Partners Ltd, a subsidiary of Universal Orlando.

It was approved by the Orange County Development Review Committee on 7 June, according to Fast Track online services.

The extra acres could be used for a Universal CityWalk-style entertainment complex, or to house more hotels – in addition to the Stella Nova and Terra Luna resorts, and the Helios Grand Hotel.

As previously confirmed, Epic Universe will be Universal’s biggest theme park in the US. It joins Universal Studios Florida, Islands of Adventure, and Volcano Bay in the Sunshine State.

Universal Orlando has now opened a preview centre for Epic Universe in CityWalk. It includes a large model of the park.

2,000 acres of Epic development

The Epic Universe theme park will house five lands with more than 50 attractions, experiences, and retail and F&B outlets.

The new lands are: Super Nintendo World, Dark Universe, the Wizarding World of Harry Potter – Ministry of MagicHow to Train Your Dragon – Isle of Berk, and Celestial Park.

To date, Universal Orlando has unveiled Epic’s Super Nintendo World, as well as Isle of Berk and Celestial Park.
