Universal Orlando: ‘Superstar Parade’ and ‘Cinematic Spectacular – 100 years of movie memories’

Two brand new attractions have now officially opened at the Universal Orlando Resort, bringing great new experiences to the attraction for guests to enjoy. ‘Superstar Parade’ and ‘Cinematic Spectacular – 100 years of movie memories’ officially opened to the public on May 8th and both are expected to prove extremely popular with visitors.

The new attractions are the latest additions to Universal Orlando’s ‘Year to be Here’, a project in which Universal are adding more new entertainment experiences than ever before in its history. The year kicked off with an improved ‘Blue Man Group Show’ at Universal CityWalk and went on from there to re-launch the high-tech ‘The Amazing Adventures of Spider-man’ at Universal’s Islands of Adventure. It’s thought that a further attraction ‘Despicable Me Minion Mayham’ will be added later on this summer at Universal Studios Florida.

‘Superstar Parade’ is sure to prove a hit with families, as it represents an entirely new form of entertainment at Universal with colourful and creative floats parading alongside hundreds of performers. ‘Cinematic Spectacular – 100 Years of Movie Memories’ is a night-time show which takes guests on a powerful journey of memorable movie moments from the past 100 years. 

“We are creating special moments for the entire family, ” said Jim Timon, Senior Vice President of Entertainment for Universal Orlando Resort.  “You can laugh and dance with your children and their favo[u]rite characters and then be completely moved as you watch the most powerful tribute to film you could imagine – all in the same day.”

Universal’s Superstar Parade will take to the streets of Universal Studios daily in order to bring guests one of the biggest entertainment experiences ever created in the theme park. The whole of the park will be transformed into a theme-park-wide stage as some of the most popular stories and characters are brought to life to bring excitement and adventure to delighted guests.

The parade features elaborately themed floats, street performers and spectacular music and dance performances. Sure to prove popular will be Gru, his daughters and Vector from the hit animated show Despicable Me dancing to “Boogie Fever”, the arrival of SpongeBob from his sea-bed home with friends from Bikini Bottom and E.B. from Hop playing the drums.

Further performances include acrobatics from Nickelodeon characters Dora the Explorer and Go, Diego, Go and guests will have the opportunity to meet performers and join in the fun at various special locations scattered throughout the park.

Universal’s Cinematic Spectacular – 100 Years of Movie Memories

Located in the Lagoon, Cinematic Spectacular – 100 Years of Movie Memories is a special night-time tribute to Universal’s 100 years of movie-making history. The show highlights some of the most dramatic moments from some of the most iconic films made over the last century. All the action is shown on enormous waterfall screens, which are surrounded by colourful fountains and further enhanced by pyrotechnics.

An incredible musical score and powerful narration by Academy Award winner Morgan Freeman further complements the show and guests can expect to be taken on a wonderful and emotional journey through some of the most epic movie moments ever made.

Moments from film include Elliot and E.T riding across the moon from E.T: The Extra Terrestrial, the gallant efforts of the crew on Apollo 13 and the notorious shower scene from Psycho. Other films featured in the new show include: American Pie, The Bourne Ultimatum, Jurassic Park, Scent of a Woman, The Mummy, To Kill a Mockingbird and The Fast and the Furious.
