The City of Norman, Oklahoma, have replaced the aging wading pool in Andrews Park with a Vortex Splashpad®.
The advantages of choosing a Vortex Splashpad® to replace the wading pool were clear; savings in operating and maintenance costs, an unsupervised, zero-depth play area and exciting water activities that appeal to children of all ages.

The Andrews Park Splashpad® has delivered immediate results. Park attendance has increased exponentially with groups from day camps and daycares as well as local residents, keen to enjoy the safe, high energy experience.
The City of Norman have not only saved on costs, with no lifeguard needed for the Splashpad®and minimal maintenance requirements, but they have also been able to generate an additional stream of revenue by renting out the two park shelters next to the Splashpad®.
James Briggs, Park Planner & Landscape Architect, City of Norman Parks & Recreation Department, says, “Since the installation our Splashpad®, we are generating more revenue from park and shelter rentals than we did charging patrons to use our wading pool.”
