Perak Corp has agreed to negotiate a deal with theme park operator Only World Group to co-manage and co-operate Movie Animation Park Studios in Perak, Malaysia.
Movie Animation Park Studios (MAPS) was developed as joint venture between Perak and Sanderson Group for approximately $134m and opened in June 2017. Perak subsidiary Animation Theme Park (ATP) currently owns and runs the park.
ATP has now entered into a heads of agreement (HoA) with Only Worlds Group for the purpose of negotiating a potential collaboration to manage and operate the theme park. The two companies are expected to finalise a deal within three months.
MAPS features 40 attractions in six zones. One is themed on DreamWorks characters Mr Peabody & Sherman, Megamind, The Croods & Casper The Friendly Ghost. Another features the Smurfs. Boboboi also has his own land. Other zones include Stunt Legends and the Megamind Megadrop, Malaysia’s tallest drop tower.
Individual attractions include 15 fun and thrill rides, 23 interactive attractions and five international shows and entertainments. The theme park occupies a 21-hectare site in Ipoh, Perak.
