Therme Group, the company behind wellness resorts such as Therme Bucharest, is hosting a two-day sauna festival in Washington, DC this month.

For the event, described as the first of its kind of its kind on the East Coast of the US, Therme is bringing Europe's culture of bathing to Washington, DC.

The experience, called Bathe-ing DC, will run on 18 and 19 October. It includes a sauna village with mobile saunas, meditation experiences, hot and cold plunges, and more.

The sauna village also features sound baths, and guests can experience the power of deep heat for recovery, stress relief and relaxation.

Beyond the village, there will be a lively hub of movement workshops, a makers market, food and drink, music and interactive art.

Therme expanding wellness offerings in US

The Bathe-ing website says, "It’s bathing as a block party, a civic ritual, a collective reset. Step out of the everyday and into something different: sweat it out, eat it up, dance around, kick back, and just be together."

Therme Group is working to expand its wellness offerings in the US, with projects currently underway in DC and Dallas.

Therme DC will be a state-of-the-art wellbeing destination at Poplar Point. It will boast thermal baths, dozens of saunas and wet rooms, thermal and mineral pools, thrilling waterslides, relaxation beds, immersive art, a wide variety of restaurants, and greenery.

Robert Hammond, president of Therme Group US, said earlier this year: "Therme DC will be a transformative addition to the city’s landscape and will set a new standard for how cities can integrate wellbeing into the fabric of urban downtowns, bringing access to green spaces, wellness and community-driven programming for both residents and visitors."

Therme's DC destination will debut after the Dallas resort, which will be the first Therme location in the US.
