Buckingham Group Awarded Contract for Coventry City Council's £37m Waterpark Complex

Buckingham Group Contracting has been selected to build Coventry City Council’s £37m waterpark, swimming pool and leisure centre.

According to an article in Construction Enquirer, the complex is slated to open in 2019.

Architects, FaulknerBrowns, were appointed to design the new building which will replace the city’s existing Grade II-listed 1966 central swimming pool.

The site itself has presented a number of challenges. It is tightly constrained by other buildings including the Grade II-listed Christchurch Spire.

The job of designing the pools and water features has been awarded to Water Technology Inc. The US-based company is expected to create a number of water attractions although no specifics have been released so far.

The Buckingham Group has a number of high-profile sport and leisure facilities in its portfolio including the Silverstone Wing pit and paddock complex and the Amex Stadium in Brighton.
