Revenue Deal Approved to Open Great Wolf Lodge Waterpark in Gurnee

A revenue deal has been approved to allow the opening of a Great Wolf Lodge waterpark in Gurnee, reports the Daily Herald.

The deal is intended to facilitate the sale of Key Lime Cove Waterpark Resort to Great Wolf.

If plans go ahead, the company will convert the existing tropical-themed resort into its signature Northwoods look.

The indoor waterpark will also be expanded by about 20,000 square feet. In addition, further facilities are set to include an outdoor water park, more shopping and other amenities.

The company is North America’s largest family of waterparks and currently owns and operates 14 properties.

The company’s Head of Development, Bryson Heezen, reportedly told Gurnee village board that fresh family rooms with themes such as a “wolf den,” new restaurants, mini-bowling and ropes courses were also on the cards.
