Apocalypso is the centrepiece of a new complex of four slides

Margaritaville at Lanier Islands’ Fins Up water park is on track to debut Georgia’s first waterslide coaster in May.

Named Apocalypso, the waterslide coaster will be the centrepiece of a new complex of four slides called Fins Up Falls.

Per a press release, significant progress has been made on the new attraction at the lakefront resort’s rebranded Fins Up water park.

The site has been cleared and the foundation laid, with the steel beams ready to be installed to secure the structure that will house the new waterslide complex.

At a steel signing ceremony last week, Bucky Perry, vice president of Margaritaville at Lanier Islands, said: “Today marks a significant milestone as we celebrate Georgia’s first and largest waterslide coaster and complex, which will undoubtedly stand as the crowning jewel of Fins Up water park.

“In addition, we are continuously enhancing offerings to meet our guests’ wishes.”

First announced last year, Apocalypso will be joined by the Serpentine Storm, Dreamsicle Dive and Mango Mania waterslides. Apocalypso is being created in partnership with WhiteWater, a leading waterpark manufacturer.

“The water park at Lanier Islands has created unforgettable memories for generations of families in the southeast and we’re excited to be part of its ongoing transformation,” said Jordanna Bower, vice president of business development at WhiteWater, last year.

“With these new waterslides, that cover a range of thrill levels, kids and parents will be able to enjoy the rides together,” Bower added.

Margaritaville at Lanier Islands is a lakefront resort inspired by the lyrics and lifestyle of singer, songwriter and author Jimmy Buffett.

Fins Up is scheduled to open on May 4.
