wiegand.waterrides, a leading water rides and attraction provider, has provided insight into the key aspects that make stainless steel slides appealing for water park and resort operators.
wiegand still makes all of its stainless-steel attractions in the plant in the quiet village of Rasdorf, close to the old border that used to divide West and East Germany. Additionally, developing slides requires the skills of 400 staff members, each bringing their unique expertise and experience.
Waterslide manufacturers have to be prudent when it comes to production standards, because any inconsistency could have various results. wiegand, therefore, holds an important patent for waterslide curves made of deep-drawn stainless steel, following ideal 3D geometry without the requirement for bumps or welded connections.
Long-lasting slides

The end product is a perfect turn – with every connection between slide sections flawlessly smoothed out and welded, making them virtually unnoticeable and never unsafe during the slide’s lifespan.
When asked how long the company’s slides last, owner and CEO Hendrik Wiegand says: “I cannot tell you that – all of the slides that we ever built are still in operation!”
In addition to being dependable and long-lasting, stainless-steel slides can feature effects like LED lights, audio, blacklight paintings, and touch games on the inside and polished surfaces, paint, or graffiti artwork outside. For extremely cold climates, the stainless-steel tube slides can even be insulated.
Endless options
The option to alter each slide is potentially the largest benefit. Any run-out, start, or general pattern can be completely adjusted to the environment; even sand from a natural lake wouldn’t be able to damage the material.
Along with sophisticated game concepts, stainless-steel attractions also make it possible to get creative, combining with spray parks or fusing with spray effects. Operators can experiment with features including large funnels, stainless steel multi-lane mat racers or stainless steel waterslides that float freely and follow the fluctuating water level along a lake’s edge.
wiegand.waterrides recently broke a number of company records when delivering replacements for South Korea’s Ocean Adventure water park, catering for families and thrill-seekers alike.
