A woman in her 60s died after riding the Haunted Mansion attraction at Disneyland in California on Monday (6 October), according to officials.

The woman was found unresponsive on the Haunted Mansion when her ride vehicle returned to the unload station, and was pronounced dead after being taken to hospital, the Orange County Register reports.

Anaheim Fire & Rescue responded to Disneyland on Monday at about 6.30pm for an unresponsive woman in her 60s who had just finished riding the Haunted Mansion attraction, according to a spokesperson from the Anaheim Police Department.

Woman's cause of death to be determined

Disneyland's security provided CPR until Anaheim Fire & Rescue paramedics arrived, and the woman was transported to a local hospital where she was later pronounced dead, the spokesperson said.

The spokesperson said the woman's cause of death does not appear to be linked to the Haunted Mansion ride, and will be determined by the Orange County Sheriff-Coroner.

Disneyland and Anaheim officials are yet to release the name, age or place of residence of the woman.

The death at Disneyland comes less than a month after 32-year-old Kevin Rodriguez Zavala died after he became unresponsive while riding the Stardust Racers coaster at Universal's new Epic Universe in Florida on 17 September.

Stardust Racers reopened at Epic Universe on Monday, a move criticised by attorney Ben Crump, who is representing Zavala's family.

Disneyland's Haunted Mansion was closed for much of last year for renovations, which included an improved queue, expanded grounds, the new Madame Leota-themed gift shop, and a new bride.
