Immotion, a global leader in immersive edutainment, is inviting audiences to journey into one of the planet's harshest and most spectacular environments in its new immersive film experience, Polar Odyssey.

This title follows the lives of polar bears along Canada’s Seal River, which flows to Hudson Bay, and their months-long wait for the winter ice to return. With the tagline 'Brave the Ice', the film shows how their survival hinges on patience, instinct, and resilience in a quickly changing Arctic.

Created for installations across Immotion’s Wild Explorer, Undersea Explorer, and Immersive Voyager VR attractions, Polar Odyssey combines filmic storytelling with state-of-the-art immersive technology. Bringing science, conservation, and adventure together, the new release provides an edutainment experience for families and children of all ages.

Curious, resilient, and hungry

The production spanned almost twenty-five square miles of frozen coastline. Filmed over five weeks, a small crew and local guides endured harsh conditions, including temperatures as low as -23.8°C (–12°F) and punishing Arctic winds.

The cold weather presented technical challenges for the team, while the inquisitive wild polar bears occasionally caused damage while investigating the hidden cameras.

Over six months, post-production transformed this raw footage into an expansive, immersive experience that takes audiences up close to the largest land predator on Earth.

Ken Musen, vice president of content at Immotion, says: "It was so easy for our entire crew to fall in love with the polar bears of Seal River. They are so curious, so resilient and so obviously intelligent–and they are so huge!

"But we had to keep reminding ourselves that these are the largest land predators on the planet, and they demanded our respect and constant attention. Plus, they were extremely hungry."

Polar Odyssey captures seldom-seen intimate moments and spotlights how climate change alters the rhythm of the ice and affects the delicate balance of the Arctic's wildlife.

Its stunning cinematography is grounded in real-world science and powerful conservation messages, immersing audiences in the frozen landscape and inspiring the next generation of Arctic explorers.

Earlier this month, Immotion marked the success of its film, Dolphins of the Reef, which won the 2026 Lumiere Award for Best Use of Virtual Reality, presented by the Advanced Imaging Society.
