Interactive lanterns at Knott's Scary Farm let guests trigger special effects

The Knott's Scary Farm event for Halloween is selling interactive lanterns that guests can use to trigger special effects across Knott's Berry Farm in California.

Via a report in the Orange County Register, the lanterns cost $48 and allow guests to activate lighting effects on rides, attractions and scenes at more than 100 locations in the park.

Some of these locations have been unveiled in a video (see below) posted to Instagram by Knott’s Berry Farm maze designer Gus Krueger.

In the video, Krueger also reveals that users will need to switch their lanterns to interactive mode to set off the special effects in the park.

Guests can then use their lanterns to turn the K sign at the top of the Sky Cabin to flames, and activate smoke effects on the Jaguar coaster temple facade.

Innovative Halloween experiences

They can also turn out the lights on the exterior of the Calico Mine Ride, and change the lights from green to red on the Supreme Scream drop tower ride.

In addition, guests can make a skeleton pop out of the Forsaken Lake, trigger audio effects at the Blind Tiger speakeasy, activate a spider tree, and open the lid on an illuminated coffin.

Elsewhere, the interactive lanterns can be used in 10 haunted mazes and five scare zones at Knott's Scary Farm.
