During the temporary closure, the museum will reinforce its policies to prevent “this type of behavior in the future”.

The Children’s Museum of Denver in Colorado has announced its decision to close to the public for 10 days as anti-maskers “have been inappropriately directing their anger toward our staff”.

The children’s museum closed on January 26 through February 4. During this time, the attraction will support its employees and reinforce its policies in a bid to prevent “this type of behavior in the future”.

“The museum carefully follows public health guidelines, including mask wearing,” said a statement. “We know the stress of the last two years has taken a toll on everyone in our community, but regrettably, some guests who object to the museum’s mask policy have been inappropriately directing their anger toward our staff.”

“To our members and guests who respect our mask policy and cooperate with our staff, thank you,” the statement added. “We are sorry that the unacceptable behavior of others means you cannot enjoy the museum at this time.”

Visitors ‘directing anger toward staff’

The museum revealed that all reservations have been cancelled during the temporary closure. The facility requires everyone aged 2 and up to wear a face mask, regardless of vaccine status.

The Children’s Museum of Denver at Marisco Campus features innovative and interactive exhibits and programmes for young visitors. Dedicated to the education and growth of young children, it offers play experiences and a dynamic learning environment.

“For nearly 50 years, the Children’s Museum of Denver at Marsico Campus has been a community gathering place where families can share moments of wonder and joy,” the statement said.

“Our staff takes this mission seriously, and strives to help your family create memories in a safe and welcoming environment. Lately, this has been increasingly challenging.”
