Imagineear celebrates one million multimedia tours at Amsterdam's Van Gogh Museum

Imagineear, leading creator of multimedia content and applications, is celebrating one million tours at the Van Gogh Museum in Amsterdam.

Users access the interactive guide via Imagineear’s rugged and easy-to-use handheld MPti™ devices.

According to the museum, one in five visitors – one in four in peak season – uses the multimedia guide to explore the world of Vincent Van Gogh and gain a deeper understanding of his art. Feedback from users is overwhelmingly positive. The vast majority of fans say the tour has made them see Van Gogh in a new light, despite thinking that they already knew all there was to know about the artist.

“That is exactly what we hope to achieve with the guide,” comments Axel Rüger, Director of the Van Gogh Museum. “Visitors arrive at our museum with relatively clear-cut ideas. But, they leave with new insights, which they enthusiastically share with us, as well as online.”

The top-three ‘new’ insights, as reported by users of the guide, are: Van Gogh’s short yet productive life; the influence of his friends and family; and his illness.

The new guide was launched in 2014, replacing the outmoded audio tour. It was created in a whole service project designed by Fabrique, in collaboration with Frankly, Green + Webb and Imagineear.

The guide includes three variations and is available in 11 different languages. Imagineear’s MPti™ players were chosen for their sophisticated digital technology and sturdy build quality. After two and half years and a million users, the devices are still going strong.

Imagineear has provided its range of multimedia devices and services to numerous leading attractions around the world. The company’s ever-expanding client list includes the Kennedy Space Center, the British Museum, the Baltimore Museum of Art and the Chinatown Heritage Centre, Singapore.
