NYC's Universal Hip Hop Museum celebrates completion of its new home

The Universal Hip Hop Museum will serve as the cultural anchor of Bronx Point in the South Bronx.

New York's Universal Hip Hop Museum (UHHM) is celebrating the completion of the Bronx Point development, which will house the new museum.

The Universal Hip Hop Museum will serve as the cultural anchor of Bronx Point, a 56,000-square-foot waterfront development project located in theSouth Bronx. Bronx Point will include more than 500 affordable homes.


"Witnessing the 'topping off' of the Bronx Point development, which features the future home of the Universal Hip Hop Museum, is a dream come true," said Rocky Bucano, founder and executive director of UHHM.

"The continuous support by city and state officials is proof that hip-hop culture is aBronx-born, cultural resource embraced by millions worldwide," he added.

"It's the passion for hip-hop culture that we share with the world, that makes this joint effort exciting for theBronx, New YorkCity, and the world."

Topping out of Bronx Point development

The Universal Hip Hop Museum broke ground in theBronxin 2021. Built as a space for artists and audiences, the museum will offer educational and entertainment experiences. It is slated to open in Bronx Point in 2024.

Visitors to the museum will explore the history of hip-hop through technology-driven exhibits, virtual reality (VR) and augmented reality (AR).

"Congratulations to all our partners on reaching this important milestone in the construction of Bronx Point," said Eric Enderlin, president of the New York City Housing Development Corporation.

"This development will benefit theBronxcommunity for generations to come, with 542 permanently affordable homes, extensive cultural and community programming, and the new Universal Hip Hop Museum."

Elsewhere, the Museum of Modern Electronic Music has opened in Frankfurt. TheBob Dylan Center, a new museum dedicated to the American singer-songwriter, has launched in Tulsa, Oklahoma.
