Immersive attraction helps to boost footfall at La Grande Mela shopping centre

SPREE Interactive, a leading provider of active free-roam VR experiences, has launched the first battery-powered VR bumper car attraction, in partnership with leading manufacturer Eurogames and licensed by VR Coaster. Guests at La Grande Mela in Verona, Italy, can now enjoy an immersive bumper car experience.

This new addition to the shopping centre means that To Get srl, the Italian specialist marketing agency, can boost footfall in a highly competitive market.

“We are always looking for new creative solutions to draw in customers at our client locations”, says Filippo Tracquilio, Owner of To Get srl. “We chose SPREE & Eurogames as they provide an immersive VR entertainment solution that creates a unique interactive experience between players.”

New retailtainment offering

The new attraction opened to visitors at La Grande Mela on 1 July, adding entertainment to the shopping experience and transporting visitors into a virtual world on their space bumper cars.

“The demand for virtual spaces is continuing to grow rapidly as consumers globally are seeking new entertaining VR experiences,” says Paul Collimore, commercial director at SPREE Interactive. “Battery Powered VR Bumper Cars transports physical bumper cars into the virtual world, creating opportunities for venues to transform their spaces into a 360-degree immersive experience.”

The VR Space Bumper Car attraction comes with 4 circular battery-powered cars and only needs an area measuring 8 metres by 9 metres (26 feet by 30 feet). This means it is an ideal addition to a number of different venues, even when space is limited. With a maximum throughput of 48 players per hour, the game CyberBlaster, developed by SPREE & leading VFX house Pixomondo, offers a fast-paced 360° driving experience.

Last month, SPREE Interactive announced that it has been selected to participate in the SPACES programme, beating other entries from around the world in a bid to develop new technologies.
