Fotosmile, a family-run photo and video solutions company from Italy, is sharing how one of its on-ride upsell lines is providing success for clients in the amusement park sector.
In 2020, Fotosmile developed the third generation of its Moviesmile technology, the M3. This state-of-the-art software and hardware provide automatic recording and editing of on-ride video content, making it available to be sold and shared with riders shortly after their experience.
M3 is an innovative on-ride video system, unique and proprietary patented technology from Fotosmile. The technology allows operators to not only record HD videos with onboard cameras but to also entertain guests with onboard screens installed on each row of the ride vehicle.

Marketing memories
At the end of the ride, the software automatically initiates the recording of the on-ride video and communicates the information to the sales booth, automatically editing the contents and adding overlays, an intro and an outro. Recording is also possible during night-hour operations for outdoor rides.
The entire footage of the experience is viewable in real-time on the smartphone. M3 also makes a reel in a vertical and split-screen style to accommodate both subjects in the recording. Visitors can download and share their content whilst at the park, creating new organic marketing opportunities.
Furthermore, with the onboard screens, M3 provides an unrivalled opportunity to engage with passengers. The screens also enable the display of videos during the loading and unloading procedure at the station, which can serve as a useful marketing tool for third-party companies or the park itself.
Fotosmile is also enhancing photography operations with My Photo Pass, a digital service that is adaptable to each operational location.
