ILMxLAB and Meta Quest 2 are previewing a Star Wars VR experience at Disneyland Resort’s Downtown Disney District from November 2021 through January 2022.

ILMxLAB, Lucasfilm’s immersive entertainment studio, has teamed up with Meta Quest (formerly known as Oculus Quest) to offer a special Quest 2 preview of Star Wars: Tales from the Galaxy’s Edge.

The VR preview at Disneyland Resort begins on November 21, 2021 and runs through January 5, 2022, with Quest 2 users able to explore the outskirts of the Black Spire Outpost on the planet of Batuu.

Star Wars: Tales from the Galaxy’s Edge is a VR experience designed for players at home on Meta Quest. It is inspired by the Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge expansion at Disneyland and Walt Disney World.

The first part of the VR experience allows players to take on the role of droid technicians operating near the Outer Rim. Star Wars: Tales from the Galaxy’s Edge – Last Call, which launched in September, is the second part of the VR adventure.

The complimentary preview experience will be offered daily between 12pm and 8pm adjacent to the Star Wars Trading Post at Downtown Disney District in California.

Earlier this year, Walt Disney World revealed that Star Wars: Galactic Starcruiser, a two-night hotel experience, will embark on its inaugural voyage on March 1, 2022.

“Star Wars: Galactic Star Cruiser is a first-of-its-kind experience where we’re inviting guests to step into a galaxy far, far away, and live out a Star Wars story over two days and two nights,” said Ann Morrow Johnson, executive producer and creative director at Walt Disney Imagineering (WDI).
