Leisure Destination sales account for 40% of annual revenue. Sales rose by 4.3%, reaching €339.9m, driven by in an increase in spend per visitor of +3%. This was helped by a 1.3% growth in attendance, hitting a new record attendance of 8.8 million visits.

Investment in the Leisure Developments segment will be increased by €8m. Investments will focus on the final phase of the hotel project at Parc Asterix and the construction of a third hotel, Les Quais de Lutèce.
The third hotel will have a capacity of 150 rooms and will open in 2020.

The hotel capacity for this Parc Asterix will have increased from 100 rooms in 2017 to 450 rooms in 2020.

A new Intamin multi-launch LSM coaster was announced for Parc Asterix at IAAPA that is planned to open in 2021. In addition to the launch moments, it will also feature some new track elements as well as a high-speed track switch section that will take place in the middle of the layout; allowing for forward and backward launches to take place to build up speed to more forward over a large top hat element that will feature a beyond-vertical 101º drop down the other side.

The investment will also go towards the ongoing construction of a 3,000-square-meter indoor water park that will be adjacent to the Bellewaerde facility. This water park is scheduled to open in mid-2019.

The water park was announced in 2017. Named simply Bellewaerde Aquapark, the €17 million project will span a 3,000 square-metre site formerly used for car parking. Family-friendly slides and attractions will be provided in an “oasis of greenery” in keeping with Bellewaerde’s existing park facilities. A lazy river will take visitors through a cave and numerous water effects. There will also a play zone and a pool just for kids, as well as an outdoor zone for use in summer. Parents will be able to relax in a wellness zone.
