Legoland Florida Resort is officially reopening on June 1. It will implement enhanced health and safety measures, including reduced capacity, cashless payments, social distancing and additional cleaning amid the outbreak of COVID-19.

Legoland and Legoland Waterpark are set to reopen on June 1, as is the new Legoland Pirate Island Hotel, which was originally scheduled to debut in April 2020.

Legoland’s health and safety measures were endorsed by the Polk County Commission and Winter Haven Mayor Bradley T Dantzler, before being submitted for final approval to Florida Governor Ron DeSantis.

“As part of Merlin Entertainments, our leaders across the globe have been sharing best practices daily, and we’ve been able to apply what we’ve learned from other successful Merlin attraction reopenings to be confident with our resort’s reopening plan,” said Legoland Florida general manager Rex Jackson.

“In addition, we have also sought guidance from our partners at AdventHealth. We’re ready to play, and we look forward to reopening Legoland Florida Resort as a safe and memorable place for families to play again.”

Legoland Florida, which will operate at 50 percent of its capacity, is encouraging guests to plan visits in advance and buy tickets online.

Guests should leave one parking space in between cars, and cash will not be accepted. There will be enhanced cleaning and social distancing markers throughout.

All employees and guests will be required to undergo noninvasive temperature checks. If one member of the party has a temperature of 100.4 F or higher, the entire party will be denied admission.

Face masks not mandatory at Legoland Florida

Complimentary masks will be provided, but Legoland Florida is only recommending the use of face coverings, rather than enforcing them like Disney and Universal.

“We recommend and encourage guests to bring and wear masks for everyone’s safety,” said Legoland Florida. “We will have disposable masks available for pick-up on-site as well. For the water park, masks are only recommended for use when they are dry.”

The resort has also adjusted its opening hours. Legoland will open daily from 10am to 5pm, while Legoland Waterpark will open daily from 12pm to 4pm.

Visitors can use the theme park’s mobile app, which provides the locations of more than 200 hand sanitising stations. Legoland Florida is working on a virtual queue system.

Merlin creates videos and guides for reopening

Meanwhile, Merlin Entertainments has created videos and guides to help visitors with the new measures at reopening attractions and theme parks across the world.

The videos include a message from the global Merlin teams explaining what to expect when visiting, as well as an animation containing essential information about health and safety measures.
