Maurer Rides, a leading designer and manufacturer of roller coasters and transport solutions, has revealed its new innovation, the Spike ASM Launch Coaster.
Featuring the ground-breaking Adaptive Spike Motor (ASM) system, this coaster provides an unparalleled blend of exceptional performance and optimal adaptability. The ASM Launch Coaster is designed for theme parks of any size and provides all target groups with thrilling new experiences.
Powerful, versatile & efficient
ASM facilitates the use of spike technology in large trains, providing transport capacity for all requirements. This is achieved through the huge power, and remarkable power density, of its advanced electric motors. Trains can accelerate beyond 1 g at any point on the track, including curves and vertically.
The drive has a fully redundant design, allowing trains to return to the station independently even if there is a fault. This eliminates the need for additional evacuation facilities like walkways, steps, or lifting platforms.
The electric motors are up to 20% more efficient than modern LSM systems. The massive thrust is delivered to the rail through racks with 100% traction. Unlike traditional roller coasters, the majority of the energy is recovered through recuperation rather than being converted to heat during braking.
The ASM-Launch marks a significant step towards sustainability with its extremely low energy requirements.
The ability to use energy at any time allows for remarkable flexibility, and so supports the development of creative ride designs. Roller coaster designers’ visions, like the Standing 8 and Shamrock, are becoming a reality and challenge traditional ride designs. This means that even small rides with international premieres and records can draw a large number of visitors and acclaim.
