Merlin Entertainments Announces Madame Tussauds Beijing to Open in 2014

News

Fourth Madame Tussauds for China.

Merlin Entertainments have announced plans to open Madame Tussauds Beijing in 2014.

The multi-million RMB investment will be located close to Tiananmen Square.  Madame Tussauds Beijing will be the sixteenth Madame Tussauds worldwide and the fourth in China.

This announcement reflects Merlin’s strategy to bring its midway attractions brands (Madame Tussauds, SEA LIFE and LEGOLAND Discovery Centres) to all of China’s key cities.

Merlin has already formed a number of partnerships with China’s top developers including Hong Kong Land and The Dalian Wanda group and opened successful attractions in Shanghai, Hong Kong and Wuhan.

In order to bring its iconic global brands to Beijing, Merlin has formed a strategic partnership with SOHO China, Beijing’s leading developer.

Chairman of SOHO China, Mr Pan Shiyi said, “Merlin is one of the world's most successful and biggest visitor attraction operators and we are delighted to be working with them to bring one of their best known and loved global brands, Madame Tussauds, to Beijing.  It will bring a new dimension and international flavour to the Qianmen and Beijing, and we look forward to working with Merlin on more projects in the future."
