Merlin Entertainment’s New Madame Tussauds and Dungeon Open in San Francisco

News

Merlin Entertainments has announced the opening of Madame Tussauds San Francisco and The San Francisco Dungeon.

This is Merlin’s 17th  Madame Tussauds attraction and the first North American Dungeon.

Madame Tussauds San Francisco allows guests to get close to their favourite famous figures.  In addition the attractions features many of the City’s best known faces, like Mark Zuckerberg and Harvey Milk, and landmarks in the “Spirit of San Francisco” room.

The San Francisco Dungeon is located next to Madame Tussauds San Francisco in the city’s historic Fisherman’s Wharf area.  Using a theatrical cast, special effects and 360 degree sets the San Francisco Dungeon playfully immerses guests in the stories of the Bay Area’s murky past.  The attraction also features an underground boat ride.

Commenting on the opening of the attractions, James Burleigh, Divisional Director of Merlin Entertainments, said, “The Bay Area’s dynamic energy and wild history make this city the logical location to expand our brands.  We are thrilled to bring Madame Tussauds and The San Francisco Dungeon to the welcoming community of Fisherman’s Wharf.  We not only want to capture the spirit of the Bay Area and make it fun, but we also strive to bring an immersive experience for every visitor that walks through our doors by having them be part of the attraction.  Therefore, guests are involved in the theatrical action with The San Francisco Dungeon and are able to touch the figures at Madame Tussauds.  We wanted to create a uniquely memorable experience.”
