Dubai Parks and Resorts, by Dubai Holding, presents the first coaster in the world to be inspired by the hit film franchise John Wick, as well as the world’s fastest single-car spinning rollercoaster from Maurer Rides, which takes inspiration from the popular Now You See Me films. The new rides are part of the expansion of the Lionsgate Zone at Motiongate Dubai, opening on 21 January.
With these additions, Motiongate Dubai will now hold the record for the most coasters in one park in the Middle East.
“This exciting expansion makes the Lionsgate Zone at Motiongate Dubai the epicentre of immersive blockbuster thrills in the region,” said Lionsgate EVP and head of global LBE, Jenefer Brown, when the new rides were announced.
“For the first time ever, it will offer fans the opportunity to experience the poetic action of John Wick and masterful misdirection of Now You See Me through exhilarating coaster experiences.”
New LEGO-themed hotel
As well as the new coasters at Motiongate Dubai, Dubai Parks and Resorts has also announced that LEGOLAND Dubai will soon be home to a LEGOLAND Hotel. LEGOLAND Dubai will become a full LEGOLAND Resort as a fully-themed 250-room hotel joins the existing theme park and water park.
Fernando Eiroa, who was appointed as the new CEO of Dubai Holding Entertainment last month, says:
“Dubai continues to be a leader in the travel and tourism sector, with a reputation for delivering pioneering projects and landmarks. The opening of the world’s first John Wick rollercoaster, the world’s fastest spinning rollercoaster and the region’s only LEGO-themed Hotel are an example of the breadth and diversity of entertainment experiences in Dubai.
“We are confident that these new offerings will contribute to further enhancing Dubai’s competitiveness as one of the leading international tourism destinations in the world.”
Both Motiongate Dubai and LEGOLAND Dubai feature on blooloop’s list of the top theme parks in the Middle East, alongside fan favourites Ferrari World Abu Dhabi and Warner Bros. World Abu Dhabi.
