The Turbo Track rollercoaster has been launched at Ferrari World Abu Dhabi.

At the official launch, Emirates 24/7 reports that Jesse Vargas, General Manager, Ferrari World Abu Dhabi and a keynote speaker at DEAL Live by blooloop, said, “Today, we are celebrating the exceptional story of how a world-class rollercoaster came to be. Ferrari World Abu Dhabi is going to be the location for mega rollercoaster enthusiasts all over the world

“Turbo Track isn’t just a rollercoaster; it’s an experience that combines the passion rooted in Ferrari’s traditions and values, with the excitement of a unique thrill ride. Ferrari World Abu Dhabi is going to be the location for mega rollercoaster enthusiasts all over the world.”

Mohamed Al Zaabi, CEO of Miral, added, “We are very proud to announce the launch of Turbo Track at Ferrari World Abu Dhabi. With this new ride, we have expanded the theme park’s portfolio to 37 rides & attractions creating unmatched experiences to local and global visitors,” “This new development reflects our commitment to continuously invest in new attractions that support our efforts in making Yas Island an unrivaled destination for leisure and entertainment.”

Turbo Track’s spectacular design launches guests from inside the park at 102km/h through the theme park’s iconic glass funnel up to a twisting peak above the famous red roof, before they experience a zero gravity vertical plummet back down.

George Walker, Creative Director for the Ferrari World Abu Dhabi Phase II expansion, says that he is excited to see the opening of Turbo Track:

“The fun is just the cool and amazing fact that you are traveling on a coaster through Ferrari World itself, and then shooting up through the famous red roof, and back again.  But we also worked hard to make the experience fun for everyone, even those not brave enough to ride. So we designed a giant, overhanging observation deck that offers spectacular views of the park, and even has a glass floor with a view to the track below. This way you can watch the coaster shoot beneath your feet and out over the entire park. After that you’ll head down a dramatic, illuminated spiral staircase that together forms a pretty iconic structure within the park that is just plain fun to walk down.

“This coaster is inside an elegant building, so I felt we needed to respect that. This led to the elaborate track covering that makes the coaster look more like a futuristic shuttle gliding along a chute of light. The chasing LEDs that follow along with the vehicle turn the attraction into a mini ‘show’ for those watching from below. In this way, we took the concept of dropping a giant, clunky steel coaster into the middle of this elegant theme park, and turned it into a dazzling show piece that is fun to watch and illuminates the entire space with color and energy.”

George Walker continues to contribute to the Ferrari World expansion project as Creative Director while transition to his new role with Dynamic Attractions.
