Epic Universe, Universal Orlando‘s new state-of-the-art theme park, is getting a one-hour TV special that airs on NBC on 20 August.
Hosted by Deal or No Deal Island star Joe Manganiello, the special episode celebrates the opening of Epic Universe and explores the imagination and innovation behind it.
“Universal Epic Universe is truly a first-of-its-kind theme park in connecting the world of beloved characters and stories from popular culture with reality. There is nothing like it,” said Jen Neal, executive vice president of live events and specials at NBCUniversal Entertainment.
She added, “Joe’s sense of adventure and ability to connect with fans through cinema and beyond makes him the perfect host to lead audiences on this journey as they experience firsthand the magic in this new chapter of immersive storytelling.”
Inside the Worlds of Epic Universe immerses viewers in the themed worlds of Epic Universe, offering unparalleled access to the thrilling rides, unique attractions, and cutting-edge technology that bring them to life.
Bringing the magic of the new park to viewers’ living rooms, Inside the Worlds of Epic Universe will also be available to stream from 21 August on Peacock.

As well as a look at Epic Universe’s worlds and attractions, the special features appearances from stars including Saturday Night Live’s Bowen Yang, Mason Thames and Nico Parker from the new live-action How to Train Your Dragon film, and Warwick Davis from the Harry Potter film series.
Additionally, it includes interviews with Jurassic World‘s Bryce Dallas Howard, Wicked star Michelle Yeoh, Wicked director Jon Chu, and Fast & Furious icon Vin Diesel.
Legendary filmmaker and Universal Destinations and Experiences creative consultant Steven Spielberg will be featured extensively in an extended interview.
“As a kid growing up a huge fan of the movies, I couldn’t be more excited about diving into these immersive worlds that bring some of my all-time favorite characters to life,” said Manganiello.
“From the iconic monsters of Dark Universe to the super-sized attractions of How to Train Your Dragon – Isle of Berk, there is something for everyone to enjoy.”
In addition to the new Epic Universe programme, a three-part docuseries titled Epic Ride: The Story of Universal Theme Parks will be streaming exclusively on Peacock later this year.
This will celebrate the history and legacy of Universal Destinations & Experiences, providing interviews with directors, producers and executives.
