Genting, the Malaysian casino resort operator, is to develop a family entertainment centre in the British city of Birmingham.
Featuring brands such as Nameo and Sega, Vortex Gaming will offer a mix of classic games and “experiential gaming.” The new outlet will be built in an currently empty unit at Resorts World Birmingham. It will include games and equipment that will apparently be the first of their kind in the UK. A second, smaller offering called Pixel by Vortex will include games suited to children up to the age of 12.
“Vortex Gaming is an exciting new concept and brand we have created especially for Resorts World Birmingham,” says operations director Ian Bennett. “We are looking forward to offering a family entertainment experience to complement the other offers we have here.”
Subject to planning approval, work will begin in the coming months. Both Vortex Gaming and Pixel by Vortex should be open before the end of the year.
Vortex Gaming and Genting’s Resort World model
Featuring a casino, cinema, shopping and restaurants, Resorts World Birmingham opened in 2015. The indoor facility is a more modest offering than some of Genting’s large resort developments in Asia. These include the flagship Resorts World Genting in Malaysia and Resorts World Sentosa in Singapore. The company operates a further five Resorts World properties in Malaysia, the USA and Bahamas.
