Bids invited for two Charleston, South Carolina, waterpark attractions

A general contractor is required for two new waterpark projects in Charleston, South Carolina.

The work will be carried out at Splash Zone at James Island County Park and Whirlin’ Waters Adventure Park at North Charleston Wannamaker County Park. Both are looking at expansions to their current offering.

Whirlin’ Waters, part of the Charleston Country Park & Recreation Commission (CCPRC), is set to gain a new raft ride and plunge pool. In addition, a waterslide ride area is to be constructed alongside the current site. The new pool area will include drainage and utilities.

The new waterslide will consist of a tower with multiple slides feeding into a pool.
The Splash Zone water play structure at James Island County Park Family Aquatic Center is also to be replaced.

The general contractor will have overall responsibility for the waterpark projects, coordinating with all trades and working with contractors.

Bids to The Charleston County Park & Recreation Commission

Sealed bids will be received until 10 am ET on Friday 12th January, 2018. They must be submitted in the Commission Board Room at the CCPRC Headquarters, 861 Riverland Drive Charleston, South Carolina 29412.

The Charleston County Park & Recreation Commission has the mission to improve the quality of life in Charleston County, South Carolina. It does this by offering a diverse system of park facilities, programs, and services.

The park system features over 11,000 acres of property.  It comprises four land parks, three beach parks and four seasonally-lifeguarded beach areas. Furthermore, there are three dog parks, two landmark fishing piers, three waterparks and a historic plantation site. Additional facilities include 19 boat landings, a skate park, a climbing wall, a challenge course, an interpretive center, an equestrian center, cottages, a campground, a marina, as well as wedding, meeting and event facilities. The park system also offers a widevariety of recreational services sich as camps and festivals.
