Cloward H2O, an expert in aquatic design, has announced the opening of the Sopris Splash Zone at Glenwood Hot Springs Resort in Colorado.
Cloward H2O is proud to announce that Sopris Splash Zone at Glenwood Hot Springs Resort is now open to the public. The family-friendly attraction includes 3 new zones. There is a fast-moving adventure river for older children and adults, as well as a wade-in pool with waterfalls for younger members of the family to enjoy. The new attraction also features an impressive fountain for play and show.
The adventure-filled Shoshone Chutes river ride is full of twists and turns, for an exciting Colorado whitewater experience. Younger children will have fun splashing around in Hanging Lake, a wade-in pool fed by a waterfall. And finally, the Grand Fountain serves a double purpose – a splash pad by day and an illuminated show fountain in the evenings. Younger visitors can play in a seven-foot spray during the day, and the whole family can enjoy the illuminations at night when the spray reaches up to 17 feet high.
There is also a large pergola with seating, which divides the two zones as well as supplying extra shade for resort visitors.
A new dimension for Glenwood Hot Springs Resort
“We’re like little kids ourselves,” says John Bosco, Chief Operations Officer and Vice President for Glenwood Hot Springs Resort. “We have been anticipating this opening just like everyone else—waiting, watching, seeing the progress day-by-day. It’s finally time to let people experience it for themselves. The Sopris Splash Zone will add a whole new dimension to what you can do at our hot springs. It’s a game-changer.”
The resort wanted to create a water-centric attraction for the modern traveller, that also fitted in with the historic setting of the geothermal springs. Cloward H2O, along with DHM Design, was responsible for the project. Based on experience with creating similar river features at resorts around the globe, Cloward H2O proposed a whitewater river experience for Glenwood Hot Springs.
A thrilling experience
“Shoshone Chutes takes advantage of the slope in the North West corner of the property,” says Allen Clawson, Cloward H2O Principle. “This is a thrilling and exhilarating experience for a broad range of guests who will be able to ride on either single or double tubes along a waterway with as much as 32,000 gallons per minute of flow—that’s enough to fill an Olympic-sized pool in 15 minutes!”
“We had an amazing team working on this project,” Glenwood Hot Springs Operations Manager Kevin Flohr says. “One of the things that surprised me was how much the adventure river sounds like actual whitewater. I can’t wait to see what people think the first time they ride down the Shoshone Chutes.”

Cloward H2O also recently announced the opening of Tidal Cove Waterpark at the JW Marriott Miami Turnberry Resort & Spa. The park is home to the most slides and activities in Miami-Dade County.
