Cloward H2O Waterparks

Utah-based company has brought its aquatic design and engineering expertise to worldwide projects

Cloward H2O, an expert in aquatic design, aims to transform aquatic environments into spaces where communities thrive and memorable experiences are created. Now, the company is reflecting on its journey and celebrating the global impact it has made, bringing its expertise in aquatic design and engineering to every corner of the world.

Cloward H2O Global Reach

Based in Utah, Cloward H2O excels in water feature design, aquatic environments, and recreational water engineering, delivering world-class projects across the US and globally.

Over the years, the company has designed and engineered aquatic systems in challenging environments for prestigious hotels, theme parks, resorts, aquariums, and urban developments requiring intricate, customised water systems. Additionally, we engineer simple urban fountains and backyard pools, showcasing our team’s versatility.

This global reach reflects Cloward H2O’s commitment to delivering water-based experiences that transcend cultural and geographical boundaries. Its solutions are tailored to each location’s unique needs, and each project is a collaborative effort involving multidisciplinary teams across various countries, ensuring the final product aligns with the client’s vision.

A full range of services

“Our expertise lies in understanding water from an engineering perspective; we make sure the water looks beautiful, behaves as it should and protects visitors,” says the firm. “We specialize in complex hydraulic systems, mechanical systems, and water chemistry — all while considering environmental impact and sustainability.”

Whether it’s a public aquarium housing thousands of marine species or a resort pool designed to evoke serenity, Cloward H2O delivers a comprehensive range of services, including planning and conceptual design, water circulation and treatment engineering, aquatic engineering, hydraulic analysis and modelling, aquatic life support design, structural engineering, power distribution and controls, construction support services, and commissioning and start-up.

“Each project demands precision, and our team of engineers, designers, and project managers work closely with architects, developers, and contractors to ensure seamless integration into the final vision.

“At the heart of every Cloward H2O project is a commitment to engineering quality and sustainable systems. Our engineers and designers are constantly exploring new technologies to create water systems that minimize environmental impact while delivering world-class experiences. Water is a precious resource, and we believe that every project should not only look stunning but also operate efficiently and sustainably.”

For example, in desert regions like the Middle East, the team designs systems that reduce evaporation, reuse water, and incorporate energy-efficient pumps and filtration systems. In tropical environments, the company integrates natural elements such as waterfalls and lagoons into resort designs to reflect the local ecosystem.

From Utah to the world

Despite Cloward H2O’s global presence, a project in Utah is a rare occurrence.

“As a Utah-based company, one might expect that much of our work would be close to home, but the reality is quite different. Our expertise has drawn the attention of international clients from early on in our founding. We took to solving complex water environments or challenging geographical conditions from the start and grew with the industry, being one of the first specialty aquatic engineering firms in the world.”

However, the team does enjoy the chance to work in Utah, as the state’s natural beauty and rich landscapes provide incredible backdrops for water-based projects, allowing Cloward H2O to showcase the merging of man-made engineering and natural elements.

Cloward Hot Springs

The company has contributed to several local developments, such as resorts in Moab, where, working alongside local architects and urban planners, it helped develop desert oasis getaways that provide Utah residents and visitors with an amazing soaking experience with red rock and desert views.

In addition, the team has provided splashpads in Bountiful, Millcreek, Springville and Bluffdale. Engineering the water for residential community splashpads in Utah provided the firm with an opportunity to highlight water sustainability techniques in areas where water scarcity can be a significant issue.

Another local project was the Hot Springs Resort in Midway, a historic resort set against a picturesque landscape with a natural 10,000-year-old geothermal spring in a 55-foot limestone dome.

More than just water

As Cloward H2O continues to grow, it remains dedicated to pushing the boundaries of water design, creating spaces where people can engage with water in imaginative, functional, and sustainable ways.

“Our focus is always on making water an unforgettable part of the experience. For us, every project is more than just water — it’s about crafting moments of joy, relaxation, and wonder, no matter where in the world it happens.

“We are excited to continue partnering with visionary clients, talented architects, and local communities to bring our innovative designs to life. Together, we can create spaces where people gather, relax, and make lasting memories.”

Recently, Cloward H2O also shared insights into surf park design and risk mitigation strategies.
