New cruise ship is themed to Disney‘s heroes and villains

Disney has revealed some of the villainous (and heroic) experiences coming to the Disney Destiny, a new cruise ship setting sail this November.

The ship’s grand hall will be an ever-changing space featuring 360-degree lighting effects and a new look inspired by Marvel Studios’ Black Panther.

The room will transform and “take on the aura of some of the most legendary villains, rogues and mischief makers of Disney and Marvel lore”, Disney said in a blog post.

One transformation will focus on Marvel’s Loki, who will attempt to declare himself ruler of the ship.

Additionally, the Disney Destiny will boast attractions inspired by Cruella de Vil from One Hundred and One Dalmatians, including a piano lounge and two entertainment experiences.

One of these will be a fashion-themed offering on “Cruella’s very own wretched runway”, Disney said.

Guests may also spot Dr. Facilier from The Princess and the Frog lurking in the grand hall with a “dazzling parlor trick or sleight of hand”.

In addition, Sleeping Beauty‘s Maleficent will be seen at the Saga entertainment lounge where she will be providing a magic demonstration.

Also coming to the Disney Destiny is a Broadway-style stage adaptation of Hercules using the film’s soundtrack.

The show will present live renditions of songs including ‘Go the Distance’, ‘Zero to Hero’, and ‘I Won’t Say I’m in Love’.

Like the film, the Muses will be the production’s storytellers.

Award-winning puppet designer Michael Curry is creative huge puppets to represent mythological creatures like the multi-headed Hydra monster.

Disney Hercules will be one of three stage shows aboard the new ship, along with Frozen, A Musical Spectacular and Disney Seas the Adventure.

Finally, for the first time in Disney Cruise Line history, a Marvel hero will be the signature stern character on the Disney Destiny.

Now in its final stages of completion, a Spider-Man sculpture will feature on the back of the ship.
