Zero Latency, a global leader in VR entertainment, will launch Jumanji: The Lost Levels on 4 December 2026. Developed in partnership with Sony Pictures, the experience will be available at Zero Latency VR locations worldwide.

Recent research highlights how well-timed this launch is.

A survey of 2,386 adults from Australia, the US, Canada, France, and Spain reveals that location-based VR has become a family-friendly activity.

Currently, 44% of respondents consider Zero Latency appropriate for families, a shift from its previous association mainly with young adults and groups of friends. Additionally, 60% of individuals now visit location-based entertainment venues with family members.

The largest demographic of Zero Latency visitors is aged 35-44: those who watched the original Jumanji in theatres as children and now enjoy the reboots with their own children.

Family-friendly entertainment

Among respondents, 92.8% expressed interest in virtual reality experiences. Additionally, 62.9% of Zero Latency visitors indicated they would book sessions for family activities.

The most represented age group among all visitors is 35 to 44 years old, making up 45.8%. Regarding visit companions, 60% of visitors come with family, while 72.8% visit with friends.

"What this research tells us is that people want something they can truly do together as a social experience," says Tim Ruse, chief executive officer at Zero Latency VR.

"For a long time, VR was seen as a novelty, something you tried once to see what it was like. Now, families are our biggest audience, and what they're looking for is something that gets everyone off the couch, into the same room, and then talking about it on the way home.

"That’s exactly why Jumanji: The Lost Levels will be the perfect immersive VR adventure, and the data backs that up.”

Zero Latency's first fully hand-tracked game, opening globally on 4 December, offers a controller-free experience with no buttons or peripherals involved. Players simply use their hands to reach out, grab, throw, and push, creating the most natural and accessible experience Zero Latency has developed.

For families in particular, this is significant: there's no learning curve or need to explain controls to someone who's never played a game before.

Last year, Zero Latency upgraded its Mumbai and Gurgaon venues in India to the advanced Gen 3 platform, and expanded into South America with a new venue in Asunción, Paraguay.
