Columbus Zoo and Aquarium in Ohio is opening a new nighttime experience called ‘Unextinct’ where the spirits of extinct animals come to life.
Unextinct uses state-of-the-art theatrical effects to provide an immersive journey of light and sound, with guests seeing incredible illusions that highlight the importance of wildlife conservation.
During the after-hours event, there are 15 areas to explore, containing illusions of more than 70 extinct and endangered species. Additionally, an LED bar will be serving cocktails.
“This new experience combines the importance of conservation and awareness, offering hope and a call to action,” said Tom Schmid, president and CEO of the Columbus Zoo.
“It is a testament to the power of immersive storytelling to inspire positive change in the world,” he added.
The experience was created by former Disney Imagineers at experiential design company Mangolin Creative, as well as SSA Group, a best-in-class provider of integrated guest services.
“With Unextinct, we leverage theatrical set work to transport guests to a world of vivid illusions and extraordinary wildlife,” said Morgan Richardson, Mangolin Creative’s co-founder.
“This experience underscores the notion that every person holds the power to make a positive difference in their own unique way.”
