Digital Projection, a specialist in laser projectors, has supplied two TITAN 4K RGB laser projectors, each powered by Digital Projection’s Satellite Modular Light System (MLS), to Kilden Performing Arts Centre, in Kristiansand, Norway.
Regarded as one of the most exciting venues for professional performing arts and music in the Nordic region, Kilden Performing Arts Centre is home to the Kristiansand Symphony Orchestra, Kilden Theatre, Kilden Opera, and Kilden Culture.
Its immensely varied programme, from concerts and comedy to opera and theatre, demanded an adaptable, modular projection solution to elevate the centre's visual capabilities.
TITAN 4K RGB laser projectors
Bravida, one of the region’s leading providers of end-to-end installations, was awarded the project through a public tender. It provided a turnkey solution, delivering, installing and configuring the equipment.
Central to the installation are two identical TITAN 4K RGB laser projectors powered by Digital Projection’s Satellite MLS. The units are installed on three rack-mounted modules in the venue’s Concert and Theatre Hall.

The Satellite TITAN system provides outstanding image quality and operational versatility while meeting the venue's strict acoustic and redundancy requirements, with projectors delivering approximately 10,000 ISO lumens of brightness, optically combined into a single cable feeding the projector head. The total output is around 26,000 ISO lumens per projector.
This modular setup offers significant operational redundancy. If one light source fails, the system can usually carry on running with minimal impact. This level of fault tolerance was crucial for the demanding live-performance environment, ensuring high reliability and minimising downtime.
Expert guidance
To meet Kilden's stringent acoustic requirements and adhere to space constraints, Bravida chose the Satellite Modular Laser System, which allows the noise-generating components to be installed in separate control rooms. As only the projector heads are in the performance spaces, ambient noise is dramatically reduced while brightness and image quality are preserved.
The projection system's modular design also provides substantial operational benefits. Components such as lenses, light sources, and heads can be readily swapped between the two locations, reducing disturbance in the event of component failures. This adaptability is especially important for venues like Kilden that host a wide range of events.
Bravida provided the core projection system and signal cabling, while Kilden's in-house technical team handled signal routing and integration. The venue's existing infrastructure, which includes camera sources and a central video mixing system, serves as the basis for content delivery.

The system supports both live production and playback of pre-produced content, such as video, presentations, and projection mapping.
Audun Kolstad, service manager at Bravida, says: "Digital Projection played a crucial role throughout the project, providing technical guidance during planning and delivering end-user training to ensure a seamless handover to Kilden’s staff.
"Their expertise helped shape a solution that precisely aligned with the tender’s performance and design specifications."
For example, when throw distances and optical requirements changed during installation, Digital Projection provided extra lenses to maintain flexible coverage. This enabled the team to customise the projection setups for different events and requirements.
"This project reflects how modern modular projection systems can meet the demanding needs of a national cultural venue," says Kolstad.
"With its high brightness, exceptional image quality, quiet operation and built-in redundancy, the Digital Projection solution empowers Kilden Performing Arts Centre to deliver immersive visual experiences across a wide range of artistic disciplines."
Earlier this year, Digital Projection revealed that Paris Basketball has used its M-Vision 27000 WU projector for the team’s opening match in the elite international EuroLeague championship. The M-Vision 27000 WU is the brightest 1-chip DLP laser projector in the world.
