The Art Fund Museum of the Year’s shortlist has been revealed, during BBC Radio 4’s Front Row special on British Museums last week.
As well as the winner receiving £100,000 in prize money, for the first time ever in recognition of their achievements the other finalists will also be awarded £10,000 each.
Last year the 2016 winner was the Victoria & Albert Museum, with Art Fund director and chair of judges, Stephen Deuchar, saying that “it was already one of the best-loved museums in the country: this year it has indisputably become one of the best museums in the world.”
The five finalists for 2017 are as follows:
- Tate Modern, London
