News
ProActiv Meet Vincent van Gogh

The exhibition‘s second South American venue

Proactiv Entertainment, a producer and promoter of large-scale shows, international exhibitions and music concerts, will help bring a unique experience to Buenos Aires next month.

Through a multi-sensory experience, Meet Vincent van Gogh will enable visitors to dig into the life of the eminent artist and learn about his most well-known works and personal history. Visitors will move through six scenarios where they can view and interact with replica artworks and even hear the great artist’s thoughts.

The award-winning 3D experience, which will debut in the City of Buenos Aires in February 2023, encourages guests to enter the world of Vincent Van Gogh and is based on the knowledge and skills of the Van Gogh Museum in Amsterdam assisted by more than 800 letters that the artist left to his family.

The firm’s latest installation was made possible with the assistance of the Netherlands Embassy in Argentina, Proactiv Entertainment, a production and promotion business with headquarters in Barcelona, and Foggia serving as the exhibition’s producer.

The purpose of this immersive 360-degree project is to make art more approachable for families, adults, and students while also presenting the history of the well-known Dutch painter in a fresh, contemporary, and three-dimensional manner. More than a million tickets were sold in Santiago de Chile after travelling through Beijing, Barcelona, London, Lisbon, and Madrid.

Managing director of Van Gogh Museum Rob Groot says: ‘Following successful editions in Europe in 2021 and a wonderful start this year in Santiago, Chile, we are delighted that our Experience can now inspire visitors of all ages in Buenos Aires with the life and work of Vincent van Gogh.’

A rounded experience

The reproductions of the original artworks will be available for visitors to touch and feel for themselves. They will also be able to contemplate full-scale projections, photographs, video fragments, minute replicas, interactive multimedia animations and applications, theatrical sets, audiovisual fragments, and quotes from more than 800 letters.

Numerous characters will come to life during the tour, assisted by an audio guide included with the ticket, including the painter himself, his brother Theo, his sister-in-law Jo Bonger, his mother, and other persons who were significant in his life. Thanks to sets that imitate famous locations like the Saint-Rémy hospital, the Yellow House in Arles, and the Parisian café Le Tambourin, attendees will journey to some important locations in Van Gogh‘s life.

Educating prospective artists

Students learn about Van Gogh in the experience in a variety of ways, both analogue and digital. Visitors can explore a selection of the Dutch painter’s works through an interactive digital display.

They will get the opportunity to investigate how x-rays provide a distinctive perspective into his painting technique by “scanning” the paintings to discover other works buried beneath the paint. By examining van Gogh’s exploration of colour theory through the use of opposing and complimentary hues, they will also be able to learn more about the kinds of instruments he employed.

A succession of stations and exhibitions link Vincent van Gogh’s life story, artistic development, and/or scientific principles throughout the experience. These components are split into two categories, where visitors will explore how Van Gogh’s artworks and artistic practices relate to scientific or natural principles, and use science and scientific techniques to investigate Van Gogh’s works.

Managing director of Foggia, Marcelo Dionisio says: “For us, it is an honour to present in Argentina the only official Vincent van Gogh experience in the world. We consider this creation of the Vincent van Gogh Museum to be a great idea, powerful and original, to bring the life and art of the great Dutch painter to all the peoples of the planet.”

Nicolas Renna, managing director of Proactiv Entertainment adds: ”Meet Vincent van Gogh is an exhibition different from others that allows us to know the person behind the artist. By getting to know the person and moments of his life, we explain the genius, what he saw and felt while he was painting. A unique opportunity that can now be enjoyed by the public of Buenos Aires”.

Meet Vincent van Gogh will open to the public in February 2023, with more information available on the experience’s website.

Proactiv Entertainment has recently celebrated the success of new festive events in Spain which entertained thousands of tourists at two cultural landmarks.
