The game will appeal to players of all ages including younger audiences

Valo Motion, a pioneer in combining interactive technology with physical activities, has released a new single-player experience designed for trampoline parks.

The Helsinki-based technology company has revealed Jump Theatre, a new mixed reality game for the company’s ValoJump unit, that values fun and enjoyment over competitiveness.

Jump Theatre is a single-player experience that turns the jumper into a performer on stage for audiences to enjoy. Guests are transported into a 3D universe on-screen, where they are given the option to interact with a variety of costumes and props. The game debuted at a number of ValoJump locations on 29 March 2022.

Valo Motion CEO Raine Kajastila says: “Not all the games need to be competitive. Sometimes it is more fun to just explore the surroundings without feeling pressure to perform or gain high scores. We can also all relate to the kid who sometimes feels left out when the level of coordination, experience, and competition is too much to keep up with.

“We wanted to create something more exploratory and full of experience where players can go nuts with all the AR surroundings, without feeling the pressure of competitiveness. Jump Theater bridges that gap and invites players of all ages and abilities to get exercising and experience the fun of gaming. The classic piñata theme also makes the game perfect for birthday parties held daily at many activity parks.”

AR fun

Valo Motion’s technology projects virtual effects into the real world through the use of Augmented Reality (AR). Guests can play with a variety of nostalgic gaming elements including piñatas from parties and fairground mirrors that distort reality.

Operating partner at Altitude Trampoline Park Kissimmee, Florida, US, Grady Hinchman says: “I cannot wait for this release – this is going to be a great addition to the Valo Jump game library. It’s great for all ages and a new experience every time.

“Its replayability is awesome – the graphics are really good, and the responsiveness to the jumper is seamless. The user can have a unique experience often with different combinations of gameplay, body, and weapon or accessory.”

Hinchman believes the new game further develops the potential of ValoJump, adding: “The increased need to use your upper body adds an entirely new physical element to the Valo experience here. Additionally, users that do not have the needed leg strength for optimal trampoline use can still enjoy gameplay using just their arms.”

Valo Motion hopes that through the Jump Theater, activity parks will be able to appeal to a wider audience, enabling parks to attract more guests and encourage return visits.

The company recently announced another innovation, ValoArena, a mixed reality whole-body gaming attraction designed for up to six players.
