Cosm, a global technology company that builds end-to-end solutions for immersive experiences, has shared details of its ground-breaking broadcast agreement with TNT Sports.
Under this multi-year collaboration, Cosm will create and deliver live, high-quality sports programming from across TNT Sports’ offering in immersive 8K+ at its upcoming venues.
Shared reality immersive experience
The agreement is set to begin in 2024, and will be the first time a broadcast rightsholder will present live sports content in “shared reality” — an experience that bridges the virtual and physical worlds using Cosm’s innovative technology and 87-foot diameter LED domes.
Select NBA on TNT regular season and playoff games (including TNT’s exclusive coverage of the annual NBA’s Eastern or Western Conference Finals), TNT’s coverage of the Stanley Cup Playoffs and select US Men’s and Women’s National Soccer Team matches are among the premium events that will be presented at Cosm venues across the TNT Sports calendar.
Jeb Terry, CEO and president at Cosm, says: “This partnership is transformative, not just for Cosm but for the live sports and entertainment industry at large. We are thrilled to team with TNT Sports to bring award-winning live coverage of the NBA, NHL, and U.S. National Soccer Teams to fans in a new way — by giving them the best seats in the house, every time.
“Cosm enables the best of at-home and in-venue, delivering the ultimate fan experience. It is a privilege to work with great partners like TNT Sports who also share an innovative spirit and commitment to the fan experience.”
Raphael Poplock, SVP of acquisitions, business development and partnerships at TNT Sports, adds: “We have always been at the leading edge of creating experiences, centered on innovation, that truly elevate how sports fans are able to engage with our premium content in exciting ways.
“Partnering with Cosm further advances that mission, offering a level of immersion within our thrilling NBA, NHL and U.S Soccer action like never before. We look forward to collaborating and bringing the possibilities of shared reality within sports to life next year.”
Cosm and Warner Bros. Discovery will also explore future opportunities to feature select portions of non-scripted entertainment content as part of this new collaboration, and more information will be released at a later date.
During the 2023 NBA All-Star Game in Salt Lake City, it was revealed that the NBA was the first professional sports league to collaborate with Cosm, bringing select NBA League Pass games into “Shared Reality” at Cosm’s upcoming venues.
Cosm’s first two public venues, scheduled for launch in 2024 in Los Angeles at Hollywood Park and Dallas at Grandscape, will deliver cutting-edge visuals and combine the energy of the spectators with enhanced food and beverage service to make guests feel like they are sitting in the front row, courtside, or rink-side at live events around the world.
Cosm recently announced a new collaboration with Chris Homes, DJ, artist and founder of Fascinated by Everything. The collaboration will facilitate the release of The Journey Within, an immersive experience designed for Cosm’s 87-foot diameter 12K LED domes.
