Unique artworks will help fund research into the popular historical creatures

Horner Science Group, the company behind the Jack Horner Dinosaurs brand, launched a follow-up collection of NFTs on 1 June 2022, in celebration of National Dinosaur Day.

Now available on the OpenSea NFT Marketplace, the announcement of The Neoteny Collection demonstrates the firm’s commitment to growing the Jack Horner’s Dinosaurs NFT community. The release combines art and blockchain technology and has been designed to foster an authentic and passionate vision of dinosaurs.

Since its debut last year, the company says its dinosaurs of The Origin Collection have gone a long way to disrupt the visual perceptions of dinosaurs in popular media. The NFT series was the result of a collaboration between world-renowned palaeontologist Jack Horner and Fabio Pastori, a well known Paleo artist.

A spokesperson says: “We are grateful to all Origin Collection NFT owners who have helped us to fund the Dinovision Paleontology Research and Education Foundation – Neoteny Collection sales will help fund science even more.

“As the discoverer of the first dinosaur eggs and embryos in the Western Hemisphere, and the first palaeontologist to theorise about the first evidence of colonial nesting and parental care among dinosaurs, Jack loves neotenous dinosaur hatchlings.”

Aiding science

Neoteny is a biological feature of young animals which compels their parents to nurture them until they are ready to go into the world on their own. Horner says that this trait makes these dinosaurs extremely cute.

Jack Horner’s Dinosaurs – The Neoteny Collection comprises six distinct dinosaur species, each presented as five unique NFT personalities with individual distinctions to add to their collectable appeal. The result is 150 unique “1 of 1” NFTs for sale, with funds aiding dinosaur science.

“The theory that dinosaurs were ancestors of birds could not be clearer. So, it makes perfect sense that the Jack Horner’s Dinosaurs NFT Team have chosen to focus the second NFT Collection on these little darlings, each in their own mini collection dropping on OpenSea, two weeks apart from each other” the firm adds.

“Comical and cartoonish”

Horner Science Group has announced the names of its new dinosaur hatchlings, including Loveable Hypacrosaurus, Darling Tarbosaurus, Cute Maiasaura, Endearing Massospondylus, Precious Protoceratops and Adorable Psittacosaurus.

“We are excited to celebrate the clever work of palaeontologists, including Jack, who have discovered, collected, studied, and shared information with the world on rarely found dinosaur hatchlings from six different countries. In collaboration with the award-winning Disney and paleo artist, Phil Wilson, Jack Horner’s Dinosaurs is bringing a comical, cartoonish, and rare approach to authentic dinosaurs!”

Furthermore, these assets will also be available for licensing. Audrey O’Connell, co-founder of Horner Science Group, says that: “we are excited for the opportunity to license our new assets for a range of products and media…for now, the creation of the Neoteny Collection by the Jack Horner’s NFT Team will get us started in building exposure for these wonderful images of kinder, gentler dinosaurs who were nurtured by their parents.”

More information on purchasing the NFTs can be found on the OpenSea marketplace.

Dinosaurs remain a popular theme for attractions around the world, with recent investments including Velocicoaster at Universal’s Islands of Adventure, US and T-Rex Coaster at Djurs Sommerland in Denmark.
