Las Vegas is getting two new immersive experiences in April 2022, with technology-driven entertainment experience Illuminarium opening at AREA15 and mixed reality (MR) attraction ‘Particle Ink: Speed of Dark’ launching in the Las Vegas Arts District.

Illuminarium is set to open its flagship venue on April 15 at AREA15, offering a cinematic VR-style experience without the need for headsets or glasses. Through state-of-the-art technology, visitors will see, hear, feel and smell.

Alan Greenberg, CEO of Illuminarium Experiences, said: “We’re thrilled to open our second location and introduce Illuminarium to the Entertainment Capital of the World.”

“Illuminarium is a place that can take you anyplace,” added Calum Pearson, executive vice president and general manager of Illuminarium Las Vegas.

“Through the combination of state-of-the-art technology, including the world’s most advanced laser projection, 3D beamformed audio, LIDAR-based interactivity, in-floor vibrations and scent systems, Illuminarium will transport guests to places they have only dreamed about.”

Three experiences will be on offer at the 36,000-square-foot Illuminarium venue – ‘Wild: A Safari Experience’, ‘Space: A Journey to the Moon & Beyond’, and ‘O’Keeffe: One Hundred Flowers’.

‘Particle Ink: Speed of Dark’, an immersive MR experience, is set to open on April 16. The mind-bending installation will feature live performances, taking visitors to a ‘liminal space between waking and sleeping’.

Visitors will explore an abandoned warehouse that contains a portal into the ‘2.5th dimension’, an otherworldly realm ‘where the rabbit waits before being pulled out of the hat and where ideas reside waiting to be found’.

Guests will find themselves within the pages of a living graphic novel, a world inhabited by characters made out of pure light where whimsical illustrations ‘leap from the walls’.

“We are excited to bring ‘Speed of Dark’ to the world for the first time in the Las Vegas Arts District,” said Cesar Hawas, executive producer at Particle Ink.

“As Las Vegas emerges as an immersive entertainment hub, it provides the ideal location to push the boundaries of art, technology and theatricality.”
