Disneyland has shared more information on the new attractions coming to Avengers Campus as part of a major expansion.
Announced at last year’s D23, two new attractions – Avengers: Infinity Defense and Stark Flight Lab – will be joining the land at Disney California Adventure.
Marvel Studios’ president Kevin Feige and Walt Disney Imagineering’s president and chief creative officer Bruce Vaughn spoke about the new offerings at Avengers Campus at the 2025 South by Southwest event.
The first attraction, Avengers: Infinity Defense, is a dark ride during which guests travel to iconic locations such as Asgard and Wakanda on a spaceship.
Guests will assemble with the Avengers and battle King Thanos across multiple worlds, Disney revealed at SXSW, via a new blog post.
The second attraction, Stark Flight Lab, will put riders inside Tony Stark’s workshop to see some of the new tech he’s working on and test it out.
Avengers Campus to double in size
Guests will sit in “gyro-kinetic pods” and roll along a track before stopping in front of a giant robotic arm that looks like Tony Stark’s Dum-E robot.
This robot arm will hoist riders into the air where they will make several high-speed manoeuvres inspired by Iron Man and other Avengers.
“Transferring from a track to a robot arm and then back again – nothing like this has ever been done before in a theme park, and we’re so excited about it,” Vaughn said.
“Usually, we hide all the tech behind the scenes so you can focus on the story. Here, the tech IS the story, so we’re putting it front and center.”
Iron Man himself (Robert Downey Jr.) made a surprise appearance at SXSW. “This isn’t a one-time deal. You need more me,” he told the crowd, seemingly teasing new Iron Man attractions at Disney parks.
