Disneyland Paris has announced that its Ratatouille-themed trackless dark ride is closing in October for a major renovation, including the removal of 3D.
Ratatouille: L’Aventure Totalement Toquée de Rémy, the original version of Remy’s Ratatouille Adventure at Walt Disney World’s Epcot, opened at Walt Disney Studios Park in 2014.
Per a press release, the teams at Walt Disney Imagineering in Paris and Disneyland Paris are refreshing the ride for a reopening in spring 2026.
The renovation includes technical upgrades and scenic enhancements to provide a more immersive experience themed to the Pixar Animation Studios film Ratatouille (2007).
When the attraction reopens, it will feature an enhanced queue with a new scene depicting a Parisian artist’s studio, complete with canvases and paint splatters.
Inside the ride, there will be new props, enhanced projections, and updated set pieces to “enhance guests’ perception of being shrunk to the size of Remy and his friends”, Disneyland Paris said.
Dark ride to be projected in 2D
Most importantly, the attraction will no longer be presented in 3D. Its technical equipment will be modernised, including the replacement of all video projectors with state-of-the-art models.
The upgrade will also include the projection of enhanced video media in the attraction, offering optimal visual quality.
With these additions, and after several months of testing and guest surveys, the ride’s media content will be permanently projected in 2D.
Disneyland Paris has also closed its Buzz Lightyear Laser Blast attraction until the end of 2025 for a major refurbishment.
The park recently reopened the Big Thunder Mountain coaster following several months of renovations.
At Disneyland Paris’ Walt Disney Studios Park, where the Ratatouille ride is located, a €2bn transformation is taking place.
The park is nearly doubling in size and will become Disney Adventure World from next year.
